- ➤ Marion Polk Food Share has seen a surge in donations as delays in SNAP benefits leave Salem families waiting—local food pantries now report double their usual visitors and over 100 community food drives are underway. The organization will receive $200,000 in cash and $300,000 in discounted food through Gov. Kotek’s emergency aid while Marion County’s $100,000 helps fund 4,000 food boxes to be delivered today as city councilors consider an extra $20,000. Salem Reporter
- ➤ Mano a Mano plans to buy Holy Cross Lutheran Church’s building at 1998 Lansing Ave. N.E. to expand its community center programs for families and youth in Lansing. The sale is still pending and is expected to close by year’s end while the nonprofit raises funds to open more services in the space in 2026 — with a price well below market value due to their longstanding partnership. - ➤ Wells Fargo announced that it will permanently close its Salem operations center — cutting 147 jobs by Dec. 26. The bank said the move is part of a national consolidation effort and will provide severance, limited health coverage, and career-transition assistance to affected workers. Salem Business Journal

- ➤ Oregon schools are expected to face midyear budget cuts this winter as state funding may drop between 2.5% and 5% due to federal tax changes and rising unemployment. - ➤ After welcoming millions of visitors in 2025, Oregon State Parks is planning major updates for 2026—raising parking permit costs and ending fee waivers on key days—to help address a projected $14 million budget shortfall. - ➤ Marion County Search and Rescue rescued two lost hunters near French Creek on November 6 — volunteers logged nearly 20 hours in harsh weather and difficult terrain while also assisting in a Clackamas County search. 1430 KYKN
- ➤ Yesterday, the Marion County Board of Commissioners signed a proclamation naming November 11 as Veterans Day to honor veterans through Operation Green Light. County buildings will shine green from November 5 through November 12 + the proclamation also noted the 250th anniversaries of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. 1430 KYKN
- ➤ Salem Area Mass Transit District was awarded a state grant on November 6 to develop a Mobility Integration Plan that will link shared micromobility, microtransit, and fixed-route bus services—aiming to create a coordinated system that is more accessible and sustainable for Salem-Keizer residents. The grant will fund studies and public meetings which will guide planned service expansions and the use of new technologies. 1430 KYKN

- ➤ The Oregon Health Authority submitted its application for a federal grant that could bring up to $1 billion to improve rural and frontier healthcare, following extensive statewide public input—virtual forums and surveys.
