- ➤ A Community Satisfaction Survey released on October 8th shows that over two-thirds of Salem residents are satisfied with services like fire response, water, parks, libraries, and street lighting—although 43% worry about homelessness and 19% are concerned about safety, especially at night in downtown and northeast areas. City leaders will review the findings at an October 13 meeting to update the five-year Strategic Plan with a follow-up survey set for February. 1430 KYKN

- ➤ Test scores for the Salem-Keizer School District released last week show small reading gains for third graders and slow improvements in math, with many students still not meeting state benchmarks. - ➤ Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek—fast-tracking renewable energy permits—signed an order that directs state agencies to speed up solar and wind project approvals so developers can meet the July 4 construction deadline to secure federal tax credits.
