Roller skating sessions begin Oct.
2 at Roto-Rooter Park (6700 Field of Dreams Way) and will run through Dec. 31 with most sessions costing $10 including skate rental. Public sessions are available Wednesday through Sunday and feature options for all ages and themed skates.
The new Riverfront Park playground will reopen by early October after construction delays postponed its planned July opening.
The modern facility with larger, inclusive equipment replaces the old one in downtown Salem (officials say final touches are underway).
