- ➤ Downtown Salem’s new paid parking system brought in $228,000 in its first month—almost as much as last year’s annual business tax. - ➤ Brendan Murphy announced his candidacy for Marion County district attorney after serving 18 years in the office—current district attorney Paige Clarkson said she will retire when her term ends in 2026 and supports his run. Salem Reporter
- ➤ About 30 residents gathered Wednesday morning to protest a Marion County lawsuit that asks a federal court to decide if parolee information can go to ICE and that many say would weaken Oregon’s sanctuary law. County commissioners said the protest stemmed from misunderstandings about the case — they claim the suit aims to clarify conflicts between state and federal rules. Salem Reporter
