Salem is seeking about 100 volunteers to collect temperature data with special equipment later this month for a heat mapping initiative to pinpoint hot spots needing more trees and greenspace — organized in partnership with Portland-based CAPA Strategies LLC.

Chemeketa Community College will premiere 'Mean Girls the Musical' Tuesday, July 7 at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater (200 Water St. N.E.) with evening shows through July 12.

The outdoor event brings a fresh twist to a classic high school rivalry for its third annual Theatre Under The Stars performance.
