- ➤ A report from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission showed Marion County received 38 federal immigration requests from June 2024 through May, with 25 from the Sheriff's office (25) and 13 from the county jail (13), the highest in the state. - ➤ State lawmakers raised public defense funding by nearly 15% and passed gun control measures banning bump stocks and rapid-fire devices while bills to help crime victims and wrongfully imprisoned Oregonians did not pass—leaving those groups without extra support. Salem Reporter
