- ➤ Environmental and social justice groups have withdrawn support for Gov. Kotek’s groundwater protection bill after a last-minute amendment removed key oversight provisions — they urged the Legislature to let it die. - ➤ Lawmakers reviewed House Bill 2025 on Tuesday as they considered stronger measures to oversee the transportation department amid calls for improved accountability for crumbling roads and bridges and a plan including a 15-cent gas tax rise and higher fees for electric vehicle drivers. Future public hearings will address transit safety and maintenance while Gov. Tina Kotek supports increased tools to control the agency — which faces a budget deficit and long project delays. - ➤ Bornstein Seafoods has recalled nearly 45,000 pounds of cooked and peeled ready-to-eat shrimp that may contain listeria after routine testing detected bacteria — the recall covers 1 and 5-pound bags distributed to retailers in California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
