- ➤ Geer Community Park will welcome new baseball fields opening May 30 and soccer fields on June 6 with updated turf made from crushed olive pits (an eco-friendly choice) for safer play. Meanwhile, McKay Park soccer fields will close on June 1 for reconstruction and added amenities. 1430 KYKN
- ➤ Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will waive parking fees at state parks on June 6 to celebrate State Parks Day. Several parks (such as Cove Palisades and Shores Acres) will host special events and activities including wildlife education and guided hikes. Statesman Journal

- ➤ Pacific Power is not allowed to raise rates in June after the Oregon Public Utility Commission denied its request for a temporary 2.8% increase on May 27. The ruling stops the planned change under its 2027 rate case. Statesman Journal
- ➤ Parts of Center Street NE near the State Capitol will be closed from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 30 for Oregon Right to Life’s annual march with a rally starting at 2:30 p.m., and drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes. Statesman Journal
- ➤ The Oregon State Fire Marshal urged residents to maintain wildfire preparedness into the summer season as Wildfire Awareness Month ended, stressing new IBHS-guided campaigns that focus on protecting the first five feet around homes.
