- ➤ Gov. Tina Kotek read 'A Little Bit Brave' to Englewood Elementary students on Friday, April 18 in north Salem to inspire bravery and answer questions about her job. - ➤ The Salem-Keizer Area Transportation Study is asking for public input on how to allocate $28 million in federal funds for projects such as new paratransit vehicles, a south Salem transit center, a 25th Street multi-use path, and sidewalk extensions — comments are accepted until April 30 and decisions will be made in spring with funds available in 2027. - ➤ Oregon native astronaut Don Pettit will return from the International Space Station today with Russian cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner after spending more than 200 days in space. The crew will undock at 5:57 p.m. ET and parachute to a landing at 9:20 p.m. in Kazakhstan — afterward, Pettit will fly to Houston while his companions head to Star City. Statesman Journal
- ➤ Lawmakers sent House Bill 3075 to the full House to change a gun control ballot measure approved in 2022—its implementation was put on hold by court challenges. The bill would raise permit fees and extend processing times while other bills would set new licensing rules for gun dealers and add a 72-hour waiting period for firearm transfers and a ban on rapid-fire activators. 1430 KYKN
