- ➤ Riverfront Park playground and Bush’s Pasture Park’s Crooked House Playground close Monday, April 13 for upgrades funded by voter approved funds, grants, and developer fees. The projects will add accessible, nature-themed play areas featuring music stations, synthetic grass and low-sensory zones, with reopenings expected by early to late summer. Salem Reporter

- ➤ Salem Fashion Week runs April 5–12 with local boutiques, beauty, and wellness businesses offering sales and events that build to a runway show on Sunday, April 12 at the Convention Center. - ➤ Two college journalists join Salem Reporter as interns this summer through the Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism—earning 10 weeks of training in local reporting and community storytelling. - ➤ On April 8, the Oregon Court of Appeals reversed a 2023 verdict that found PacifiCorp negligent in four 2020 Labor Day Fires after ruling a jury instruction was prejudicial. The ruling sends the case back for a possible new trial that may affect $1.2 billion in awards. Statesman Journal
