Over 200 Englewood Elementary students and teachers marked Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day on November 14—using purple pom-poms, flags and handmade signs—while learning about civil rights and promoting inclusion through lessons and a prerecorded message from Bridges.
On November 12, Recology hosted a tour at its 10-acre compost facility in Aumsville where visitors learned how food and yard waste turned into nutrient-rich soil.
Staff explained the process using an aerated static pile system — a setup that uses air tubes and a leachate system to cut odor.
