- ➤ Radness Ensues is a community center in Keizer offering free art and music programs for youth and now asks local residents to help pay its bills. Owner Rebecca Bonner seeks 1,000 donors to contribute $5 a month so the center can stay open. Salem Reporter
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Salem now has a Basque-inspired dining spot as local bartender Tommy soft-opened PINTXO’S on September 11 with a simple menu of shareable Spanish dishes and craft beverages—featuring best-selling empanadas and classic patatas bravas. The restaurant will add a wine-tasting program and expand its menu—promising a welcoming place for guests to connect over good food. Salem Business Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrations took place at the Capitol in Salem on Oct. 13—locals joined prayers, dances and art displays by Indigenous groups. The event marked a day of honoring traditional heritage and community culture. Statesman Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Protests under the 'No Kings' name are set for Oct. 18 in about 65 Oregon cities, including a gathering at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Organized by the 50501 Movement, the events will oppose policies like National Guard deployment and immigration enforcement — a follow-up to a June 14 protest — and will take place at various times across the state.
