- ➤ At a Cherriots board meeting on Wednesday, over 30 speakers including business leaders, transit riders, and community leader Jonathan Castro Monroy debated a proposal for a $39 million annual payroll tax that could cost small companies about $3,500 a year and raise prices for vulnerable residents—echoing past votes that rejected similar measures.
