Salem Fire Department responded to a two-alarm vegetation fire on East Nanitch Circle in rural Marion County on Aug.
5; nine units (including four brush rigs and three engines) arrived after the fire was first reported at 3:09 p.m.
The seventh annual Englewood Forest Festival will begin on August 9 at Englewood Park at 1260 19th St. N.E.—offering a live falcon demonstration by Chintimini Wildlife Center, craft workshops, and music and dance performances.

Oregon Housing and Community Services is investing $160 million in 10 affordable housing projects, including the Retro Electro development in Salem that will create or preserve more than 740 rental units for seniors, former foster youth, and individuals exiting homelessness—this project is part of a statewide effort to address the housing crisis.
