Salem will host local events this week with the annual Englewood Forest Festival in northeast Salem, the downtown First Friday Art Walk, and a car show at Powerland Heritage Park — each featuring free and ticketed activities for community members.

Chemeketa Community College’s CDL program held a training session on July 31 where students practiced on a 2024 International ProStar truck (over 70 ft in length) in Salem.

Instructor Patrick Chappell said the first day focused on basic maneuvers.

Wildfire red flag warnings across Oregon led to a Level 3 evacuation at Mount Hood Meadows yesterday, as the 34,659-acre Grasshopper Fire burned near Badger Creek Wilderness.
