Salem's Riverfront Park playground will have a soft opening in early September and a grand opening after as the park expands to include a wildlife-themed climbing structure and a rerouted multi-use path.
Officials say the $2.5 million project is funded by park charges, a safety bond and a state grant.
Englewood Forest Festival celebrates the 100th birthday of Englewood Park in Salem this year.
The eighth annual event will offer new features + activities for visitors.
🌲 Environment
Residents in western Oregon face smoke, heat and wildfire risk today until Aug.
6 as a high-pressure ridge shifts winds (conditions may change) and brings smoke to the Willamette Valley. A red flag warning is in effect from Albany to Eugene from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. (NWS).
🏛️ Government
The widened and repaved southbound lanes on I-5 reopened in late July after construction ended.
A video (posted online) shows the updated roadway now ready for drivers.
