The Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated a head-on collision near the 14000 block of Butteville Road NE outside Woodburn just before 9:00 p.m. on July 26 that left a 26-year-old man (from Gervais) dead and another driver with minor injuries as the crash team continues its work; no charges have been filed.

More than 1,100 teams played three-on-three basketball games on downtown Salem streets during Hoopla 2025 on July 26—teams ranged in age from 7 to over 40.

Championship games and sportsmanship awards wrapped up on Sunday—highlighting a lively local tournament.
