- ➤ The Great Oregon Steam-Up is taking place at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks—featuring vintage steam engines and live demonstrations that began July 26—27 and continue today. The event will return August 2—3 with additional antique machinery exhibits. Statesman Journal
- ➤ The Salem Substation, a historic Bonneville Power facility off Oregon Highway 22 built between 1939 and 1942 on an 8.53-acre site from the Hogg family ranch, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places — noted for its unique design that joined a control house and untanking tower into one building. - ➤ City of Salem in partnership with Willamette Riverkeeper will treat two sloughs in Minto-Brown Island Park from July 28 to August 8 to remove water primrose — residents and visitors should stay out of the sloughs during treatment and for 24 hours after as treated plants show blue-green dye. 1430 KYKN
