Salem police have launched a new online reporting system — it helps residents submit reports for non-emergency crimes like theft, vandalism, or identity theft — and advises users to have contact info and any related images or videos ready.

On July 14, the Salem Housing Authority approved a plan to sell, rebuild or repurpose 79 outdated public housing units into affordable home ownership options for middle- and low-income families.

The plan gives first priority to current residents and local renters + Habitat for Humanity and veterans.
