On June 8, 2025, a federal judge issued a contempt finding and imposed fines on the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon State Hospital for violating constitutional rights — Marion County officials applauded the fines for forcing improvements in mental health care — as a 2024 report showed hundreds of needed forensic treatment beds remain unfilled.
