GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Salem, Keizer, and Marion County are hosting a virtual open house to gather public ideas on creating sustainable transportation choices. The event is part of a regional plan to guide improvements to the transportation system (and meet state greenhouse gas reduction goals) that will shape future projects.  1430 KYKN
  • Governor Kotek requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Coos — Curry, Douglas, and Harney counties after record rains, rapid snowmelt, and severe floods from mid-March to mid-April damaged homes, roads, and utilities. The declaration will allow federal funds to support repairs and provide individual assistance to help affected residents rebuild.  1430 KYKN
  • Governor Tina Kotek announced that the Oregon Environmental Restoration Council will start planning to invest $698 million from a Monsanto settlement into cleaning polluted water and restoring habitats over the next 50 years. The council, led by co-chairs Chuck Sams and Michael Dembrow and vice chair Cheyenne Holliday, will distribute funds among state agencies, federally recognized tribes, and local communities—addressing key environmental needs across the state.  Salem Reporter
