On May 18, parishioners toured the under-repair St. Joseph Catholic Church following a 2023 arson that forced services into a school gym — crews are now fixing electrical, plumbing, and decorative features with plans to hold services by Christmas.

Today, the 142nd Wing of the Portland Air National Guard will conduct Memorial Day flyovers at various sites in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, including Salem's Restlawn Memory Gardens at 10:58 a.m. and the WWII Memorial at 11:00 a.m. Passes will fly at about 1,000 feet and 400 mph + schedules may change with weather.

Major Tommy Vu of the Oregon Army National Guard achieved 1,422 hand-release push-ups in one hour at West Coast Strength gym in West Salem on May 23, breaking the 1,250 minimum needed for a Guinness World Record.

He dedicated $1 per push-up to cancer research & honored his friend Ilsa while adding to his record-setting career.
