On May 23, a fire broke out on the roof of the building at 4080 Reed Road SE, which houses the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office and a nonprofit (serving people with disabilities), and Salem Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze with no injuries reported.
Memorial Day is tomorrow and schools, government offices, banks, the DMV, and post offices are closed+ emergency services remain available while some businesses operate on limited hours.
Salem residents can plan ahead to observe the holiday respectfully.
Governor Kotek ordered state flags to fly at half-staff from 12:01 a.m. May 25 (Memorial Day) to honor fallen military members, and the Oregon Air National Guard will conduct an F-15 flyover at 10:30 a.m. in the mid-Willamette Valley.
