GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State law allows travelers to sleep in their cars at rest stops for up to 12 hours in 24 but forbids setting up tents, with Oregon State Police enforcing the rule to prevent circumvention at adjacent outposts. Statesman Journal
- ➤ Crews are starting extensive road construction in Salem this summer as the Aurora-Donald Interchange on I-5 and Battle Creek Road will see lane shifts and closures from early June through July. Statesman Journal
- ➤ The 142nd Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard will fly F-15EX fighter jets over Salem and nearby cities on Memorial Day, May 25, to honor fallen military members. The flyovers are set from 10:31 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. along routes including Vancouver and Portland. Statesman Journal
