- ➤ Salem police arrested a 16-year-old boy after a fight at a billiard hall on May 8 led to the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Isac Steven Rizo—Rizo died at a hospital from knife wounds while a 20-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries. 1430 KYKN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Salem's Budget Committee advanced the Interim City Manager's proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Budget on May 7 to address a $13.8 million shortfall for the public library, parks, recreation programs, and senior services, and the City Council will review the plan on June 9. A local option levy on May 20 may lead to budget amendments—if it passes, tax revenue will support these services. 1430 KYKN
