  • Hundreds protested outside the Salem Tesla dealership as part of a nationwide campaign (Tesla Takedown) opposing Elon Musk, and the protest was one of many held across the country.  Statesman Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Salem is testing the Salem-Keizer drinking water intertie from March 28 to March 31 to check that it can pump about 5 million gallons per day — the test blends Keizer’s groundwater with Salem’s river water. Residents in West Salem may notice a slight change in water taste, odor or color today — the water remains safe.  1430 KYKN
  • The City of Salem announced that one lane on Center Street NE between Denver Place NE and Citation Drive NE will be closed from March 31 to April 4 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.—drivers are urged to follow signage and watch for workers in the area.  1430 KYKN
  • Salem officials will hold an open house on Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m.—12:30 p.m. at Anderson Rooms A&B at Salem Main Public Library to collect feedback on plans for an expanded Riverfront Park playground scheduled for next year. The project will use a $770,000 grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department along with city funds from the Safety and Livability Bond and Parks System Development Charges to create a play space that meets community needs.  1430 KYKN
