Salem launched new recycling rules in July 2025 under the Recycling Modernization Act so residents can recycle more items in the blue cart.

The city is proposing a waste reduction policy and asks for public comments (feedback accepted until May 20).

The city has released its 2026 Recreation Guide to help residents find activities for all ages, and copies are available online or in person at the Salem Operations Center + Customer Service Center or Salem Public Library.
