Good morning, Salem.

This week, Salem hosts Cherry Blossom Day at the Capitol on Saturday, free Deepwood Museum tours on Friday and Saturday, a Kalapuya demonstration at the Public Library, a motorcycle show at the fairgrounds and a sensory-friendly tour at Willamette Heritage Center on Monday, March 23 (starting at 10 a.m.).

Oregon Parks and Recreation will host Yozakura, a night viewing event for illuminated cherry blossoms at State Capitol State Park from March 21 to April 4.

Visitors may bring blankets or camping chairs + an evening picnic to enjoy the view each night from 6-10 p.m.

A mild winter helped the Oregon Department of Forestry plant about 2 million seedlings in state forests, with most districts done or finishing this month except Klamath Lake, and they have nearly 300,000 extra seedlings for watershed groups, tribes & nonprofits.

The Salem Capitals played their first home game Friday, March 13 at Salem Armory Auditorium, losing to the SuperHawks, and then won Saturday's game against Yakima Heat to tie their record at 2-2.

The team will face the Vancouver Bears next home game Sunday, March 29.
