EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three seniors from the Career Technical Education Center placed first in the Oregon ProStart Championships culinary competition on Monday at the Salem Convention Center, and they will compete in the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore from Apr. 24 to 26.  Salem Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Legislature welcomed middle and high school students back to its honorary page program (resumed after a COVID pause) to learn firsthand how a bill becomes a law. The short session has 50 Senate pages so far, with more students applying.  Salem Reporter
  • Refunds for electronically filed tax returns should arrive within two weeks, though paper returns (filed starting early April) may be delayed up to 20 weeks, the Oregon Department of Revenue said after receiving IRS forms late.
