- ➤ This week in Salem offers a free jazz concert on Feb. 26 at Hudson Concert Hall, a rug tufting workshop and roller derby on Feb. 28 (various venues), a clay workshop on March 1 at the Willamette Art Center, and an open mic night on March 3 at Grand Theatre. Salem Reporter

- ➤ Gov. Kotek announced Tuesday a roundtable of early learning experts to craft a plan for universal pre-K access statewide (including leaders from Portland and state agencies). The group will assess current programs and gaps to help reduce child care costs for families. Oregon Capital Chronicle
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Salem Area Mass Transit District, also known as Cherriots, operates bus routes across Salem, Keizer and unincorporated areas to help residents with daily commutes and errands. Statesman Journal
- ➤ Salem officials repealed the downtown parking district tax and are issuing refunds to affected businesses. The refund is seen as an opportunity for owners to reinvest in customer access, digital visibility, and downtown improvements (planned as a collaborative effort) to boost the area’s appeal. - ➤ Consumer advocates recovered over $1 million in Q4 2025 + raising the year's total to over $7 million returned to Oregonians. They resolved issues from insurance disputes to medical billing errors using expert guidance. 1430 KYKN
- ➤ Salem city councilors approved spending $250,000 from opioid settlement funds for a pilot treatment program at Redwood Crossings (4107 Fisher Road N.E.) on Monday, Feb. 23.
