CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Roger Tofte, creator of the Enchanted Forest theme park south of Salem, died peacefully Feb. 13 at age 96 with family by his side. Three generations of his family continue to run the park, and a celebration of life will be announced soon. Statesman Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A weather system is forecast to bring 30–40 inches of snow to Cascade Mountain passes (Feb. 16–20) and light flurries to the Willamette Valley (slow start this weekend) that could slow travel on highways 26, 22, and 58. Statesman Journal
- ➤ Salem’s bald eagles at Minto-Brown Island Park are nearly ready to nest as the city invites volunteers to join the Eagle Watch 2026 program+Salem Park Ranger Mike Zieker said the birds are adding final touches to their nest, and helpers can sign up by March 4. Salem Reporter
